Sports Day Medals

Sports day medals for school events

Recognise effort and achievement with sports day medals for races, field events and team games. Plan prizes for event places, year groups or every participant, depending on how your school celebrates the day.

Planning your medal quantities

Start with the event programme. List each race or activity, the number of places you will award and the pupils in each year group. If everyone will receive a participation medal, estimate the full number of entrants and allow for any reserves or late additions you expect.

Check the current medal product pages for the design, finish and any ribbon or personalisation options. These details vary by product. Keep separate counts for different awards so medals are easy to organise and hand out at the presentation.

Sports day medal questions

Should we give medals for places or participation?

Either approach can work. Medals for places highlight results in each event; participation medals recognise all pupils who took part. Decide your approach before calculating quantities, especially if some pupils enter more than one event.

What wording should go on a sports day medal?

Where personalisation is available, keep it short: school name, event or achievement and year. For example, “Sports Day — Year 4 Sprint”. Check the space and options on the chosen medal before preparing names or results.

Can we combine medals with a main trophy?

Yes. Medals can recognise individual event places or participation, while a trophy can mark the overall house result or another main achievement. Browse our sports day trophies for your presentation plan.
